October 11, 2016 | Soccer
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee senior defender Emily Morrow was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week on Tuesday morning after helping lead the Volunteers to a pair of SEC victories last week.
Morrow assisted on Hannah Wilkinson's game-winning goal against Texas A&M on Sunday and also had an assist in UT's 3-1 road victory at LSU on Thursday. It was the first time in her career that she recorded assists in back-to-back games.
The Argyle, Texas native also played a key role on the Vols' back four as they allowed just one goal for the week. Morrow played the full 90 minutes in both games and helped the Big Orange post its sixth shutout of the year in Sunday's 2-0 win over the Aggies. Tennessee allowed just eight total shots on goal in its two wins last week.
Morrow is the 13th player in program history to be named to the TDS Team of the Week and the second Vols' player in as many weeks to earn national recognition. Wilkinson was named the NSCAA Women's College Player of the Week and was also an honorable mention for the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week last Tuesday.
Morrow and the rest of the Vols go for their fourth straight win this Friday when they travel to Lexington to take on the Kentucky Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game can be seen live on SEC Network +/WatchESPN.
