VFL Ron Gust Passes Away

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Ron Gust, a football letterman in 1952-54, passed away recently.
Gust, a native of North Tonawanda, N.Y., was an end on Gen. Robert Neyland’s final Tennessee team in 1952 and both seasons of the Harvey Robinson era in 1953 and 1954. He also competed for the UT swimming and diving team under coach Karl Bahret.
After graduation, Gust made his home in Germantown, Tennessee, where he was in sales and remained a passionate supporter of the Volunteers until his death.
Gust passed away on Dec. 26, 2015 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife Sally and children Cathy, Tim and Tom.
