- The first of those games came last season at Memorial Gym in Nashville, as the #7/9 Lady Vols held off Vanderbilt, 57-49, on Jan. 5, 2015.
- That 49-point total by Vandy was the lowest scored by the Commodores in Nashville in the UT series since VU tallied 27 in a 96-27 loss on Jan. 18, 1976.
- UT's victorious 57-point sum in that meeting, meanwhile, was the lowest ever by the Lady Vols in the series.
- Tennessee later scored 79 at home on March 3 in the 2015 regular season finale and once again held Vandy to only 49 points.
- That contest was Senior Day for Cierra Burdick, Isabelle Harrison and Ariel Massengale, and it featured a special, final-second return to the court by the injured Harrison, who was lost for the season due to a torn ACL in her knee vs. Kentucky.

- Tennessee clinched the SEC regular-season title with the win and South Carolina's 67-56 loss to Kentucky. It marked Tennessee's 18th regular-season conference title.
- Tennessee (25-4, 15-1 SEC) made a season-high 12 3-pointers in the win, marking its most treys since hitting a program-record 16 against Kentucky on March 6, 2011.
- Massengale was hot from 3-point range, going 8-of-11 to tie Meighan Simmons' single-game record of eight treys (vs. Virginia, Nov. 28, 2013 and vs. Lamar, Dec. 1, 2010). The eight threes also tied for the most by an SEC player last season (Gracie Frizzell, Ole Miss).
- Massengale finished with a season-high 26 points, shooting 9-of-12 from the floor and also had three rebounds and two assists.
- Burdick had 12 points, six rebounds and a season-high seven assists in her final Tennessee regular-season home game. Jaime Nared added 13 points and five rebounds and Andraya Carter tallied 12 points, four boards and five assists.

- The Commodores feature nine players scoring at least four points per game and only one (Christa Reed, 11.5 ppg.) scoring more than 10 per contest.
- Three of VU's losses are to perennial NCAA Tournament teams, including Green Bay, Dayton and South Carolina.
- The ‘Dores lost by only 10 to the Gamecocks in Nashville.
- Traditionally tough on defense, Vandy is a allowing only 51.1 points per contest in 17 games, with only Dayton (81) and South Carolina (71) scoring more than 70.
- Offensively, VU is averaging 66.3 points per game, scoring fewer than 60 points on seven occasions, including four of its last five.
- Vanderbilt is coming off a 58-42 home win over LSU on Jan. 14, with the Commodores riding a 23-5 points-off-turnovers advantage via 16 LSU miscues.
- Melanie Balcomb is in her 14th season at Vanderbilt, owning a 305-139 record with the ‘Dores and a 468-243 slate overall.

- Tennessee returns to Thompson-Boling Arena striving to get back on the right track.

- Graves (8.7) and Russell (8.5) are Tennessee's top rebounders, followed by DeShields at 5.5.
- Defensively, Tennessee is allowing only 58.8 points per contest, which would rank as the 10th-best effort in school history.
- Offensively, however, the Lady Vols are putting up only 66.6 points per game, which would replace 69.3 (1983-84) as the lowest in UT annals.
- After facing Vanderbilt, UT goes back on the road for a pair of games against top-10 ranked foes.
- The Lady Vols play on Jan. 25 at #9/9 Kentucky and on Jan. 28 at #10/10 Mississippi State.
