Dobbs Wins Ashe Sports-Scholar Award

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee's junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been recognized with the Arthur Ashe Jr., Sports-Scholar Award for outstanding academic and athletic achievement.
Dobbs is currently a junior pursuing a major in Honors Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Business Administration. He is also a member of the University’s Chancellor’s Honors Program. He was named to the 2013-2014 Southeastern Conference Freshmen Honor Roll and the 2014-2015 Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll. He has also been named a VOLScholar in his first two years at Tennessee which signifies having earned above a 3.0 GPA.
In the community, Dobbs has been active in numerous service initiatives including the following: Educators for Excellence - Reach Them to Teach Them, WomEngineers Day, the Covenant Health Knoxville Marathon, Prayers for AJ Cucksey, Read Across America, Special Olympics Knoxville, Beads of Courage and Habitat for Humanity.
Dobbs has also been named as a nominee for Allstate AFCA Good Works Team®, the most esteemed off the field honor in college football. For 24 years, the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® has recognized college football players from across the country who exemplifies a superior commitment to community service and volunteerism.
On the field, Dobbs has a 7-2 record in his last nine starts for the Vols at quarterback, dating to the 2013 season. He was named the MVP of the TaxSlayer Bowl in January 2015. In his last nine starts, Vols are averaging 39 points per game and 431 yards of total offense. He has thrown at least one touchdown in eight of his last nine starts with multiple scoring throws in six of those games and rushed for at least one touchdown in seven of his last nine starts with two or more in three of those games
In three starts in 2015, averaging 158.0 yards per game on 43-of-74 for 474 yards with five touchdown passes; rushed for 107 yards (35.7 yards per game) with two rushing scores.
In 2014, Dobbs was 4-1 as Vols starting quarterback, as Tennessee averaged 36.7 points per game and racked up 431 yards of offense per game. In six games he compiled 1,675 total yards of offense (279 per game) and responsible for 17 touchdowns (nine passing and eight rushing). He led the Vols in touchdowns scored with eight, all rushing. In six games, Dobbs threw for 1,206 yards (201 per game) on 112-of-177 with nine passing touchdowns and rushed for 469 yards (78.2 per game) with eight scores and a rushing two-point conversion
