The Colonials are entering their fifth year under head coach Mike Lonergan, who has guided the program to 46 wins and consecutive postseason berths. GW posted 22 wins in 2014-15, including victories over No. 11 Wichita State and Pittsburgh.
George Washington boasts an experienced lineup, as seniors Patricio Garino, Kevin Larsen and Joe McDonald have been starting since they were freshmen. The Colonials also add Wake Forest transfer Tyler Cavanaugh to their frontcourt this year.
Tennessee trails its all-time series with George Washington, 1-2, dating to 1917. The Vols won the most recent meeting, defeating the Colonials at the 2000 Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Tennessee owns an 8-14 all-time record in New York City but is riding a two-game win streak in The Big Apple.
Tennessee’s last hardwood appearance in New York City came during the 2010 NIT Season Tip-Off at Madison Square Garden. The Vols defeated VCU and seventh-ranked Villanova to claim the tournament championship.
The Vols also host a pair of home games as part of the Classic before heading to Brooklyn. Those contests take place Nov. 22 vs. Gardner-Webb and Nov. 24 vs. Army.
