With the World University Games underway, rising junior Eve Repic is quickly showing why she was chosen to represent Team Canada in Gwangju City, South Korea.
In doubles, Repic partnered up with the University of Illinois' Louise Kwong. The two defeated Alice Bacquie and Mallaurie Noel of France 6-4, 6-1. Bacquie and Noel are currently ranked as the No. 529 doubles team in the WTA rankings.
Advancing to the second round, the duo was faced with the No. 1 overall seed for the tournament of Chieh-yu Hsu and Ya-hsuan Lee from Thailand. Coming off a first round bye, Hsu and Lee downed Repic and Kwong 6-1, 6-0.
In singles, Repic started things off by facing the 14th-seed in singles and No. 657 ranked Bacquie from France. The match was a close one, but Repic edged past Bacquie 6-4, 6-4. In her second round match, Repic blew past Columbia's Paula Rodriguez 6-1, 6-0.
Repic's next match comes against the No. 1 seed Luksika Kumkhum from Thailand. Kumkhum is ranked No. 125 in the WTA and recently made it to the final round of qualifying at Wimbledon.
