Pros Update: Three VFLs Make Debuts

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee has 17 former players who have made appearances in professional baseball this season. This week, three VFLs made their professional baseball debuts. Tennessee's former outfielder Christin Stewart kicked off the season with the GCL Tigers. He notched a single in his first game with the team and has recorded eight hits, five runs and two RBI through five games. On June 21, Drake Owenby began his professional baseball career with the AZL Brewers. In his first appearance on the mound, Owenby allowed one run on two hits and tossed three strikeouts through 2.2 innings of work. Fellow pitcher and VFL, Bret Marks, tossed a no-hit, one strikeout inning in his first Minor League appearance with the Staten Island Yankees.

R.A. Dickey - SP, Toronto Blue Jays
Season: 3-7, 4.88 ERA, 15 G, 96.0 IP, 91 H, 54 R, 52 ER, 37 BB, 60 K
R.A. Dickey appeared in one game (June 19-26) this week. Dickey was charged with his seventh loss of the season after tossing two strikeouts and allowing three runs on eight hits through 7.0 innings of work on June 23 at Tampa Bay.
Yan Gomes - C, Cleveland Indians
Season: .198, 27 G, 8 R, 20 H, 3 2B, 0 3B, 2 HR, 8 RBI
Yan Gomes appeared in three games (June 19-26) this week for the Cleveland Indians. On June 24, Gomes recorded one hit and two RBI versus the Detroit Tigers.
Chase Headley - 3B, New York Yankees
