Faith Johnson Named Academic All-America
June 11, 2015 | Swimming & Diving
Tennessee rising senior swimmer Faith Johnson was named to the Capital One Academic All-American At-Large Team, CoSIDA announced Thursday afternoon.
Johnson, who was named to the third team, paced Tennessee once again in sprint freestyle events and had another standout year in the classroom.
During the 2014-15 season, Johnson was part of two more SEC championship teams in the 200- and 400-yard medley relays, boosting her career conference gold medal total to four. She also earned five more All-America honors and now has 15 in her career.
Academically, Johnson had a 3.96 GPA as a kinesiology major. She is a two-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll and a two-time CSCAA Scholar All-American. She earned Capital One All-District last month to qualify for the national honor.
It is the third consecutive year a Tennessee women's swimmer has earned Capital One Academic All-American status. Last year, 25-time All-American Lindsay Gendron earned second-team honors, and in 2013, Kelsey Floyd was a first-team award member.
