Stewart Earns First Team All-SEC Honors

HOOVER, Ala. --Tennessee Baseball's Christin Stewart has been named a Southeastern Conference First Team All-SEC outfielder, as announced by the league office on Monday.
With the nomination, Stewart has now received First Team All-SEC postseason honors in back-to-back seasons, as he also took home the accolades in 2014 after he became the 11th player in Tennessee Baseball history to win the team "Triple Crown", leading the Vols in batting average (.333), home runs (5) and RBI (39).
Stewart is the first Volunteer to be named a First Team All-SEC player in consecutive years since Tennessee Hall of Famer Chris Burke (2000-01) did so following his record-setting campaigns on Rocky Top.
This season, Stewart hit .318 with eight doubles, two triples and 15 home runs for the Orange and White. He produced career-best numbers in multiple categories, leading Tennessee's squad in homers, RBI (47) and slugging percentage (.647). Entering the SEC Tournament, the junior leads the conference in times hit by a pitch (15), while he also holds the most walks by a Volunteer this season with 28.
In April, the Georgia native earned SEC Hitter of the Week honors, as well as a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week nomination, after he hit .500 with a triple, three home runs and a team-best 10 RBI over a four game stretch.
As one of just three Volunteers to have started each of Tennessee's 49 regular-season games this year, Stewart has recorded three multi-home run games on the season, including a two-homer, five RBI performance against Mississippi State as part of a series sweep at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.
Stewart garnered national attention following a successful 2014 summer stint with USA Baseball's Collegiate National Team, as he was tabbed a Preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, Perfect Game, Baseball America and D1Baseball.com. In February, he was also named a Preseason All-SEC outfielder, as voted on by the Southeastern Conference's 14 baseball coaches in the annual preseason poll.
