KNOXVILLE, Tenn. --- The University of Tennessee will send the senior duo of Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams to the NCAA Doubles Tournament on May 21 in Waco, Texas.
"It is a great achievement," Henderson said about the selection. "It feels like the perfect way to end our time here. It has taken a lot of hard work and dedication, but thanks to Caitlyn, teammates, staff and the coaches, it was made possible. We aren't done yet."
"It's such an incredible feeling being able to represent Tennessee at NCAAs," Williams said. "I've been waiting for this opportunity for a long time, and to do it with my best friend Jo makes it that much sweeter. I'm just really excited for both of us right now."
It will be the first individual appearance for both players, who are coming off one of their best seasons as Lady Vols. The two finished the regular season with a 17-4 record together.
During the year, the team has been ranked as high as No. 16 in the country, according to the ITA rankings. They currently sit at No. 24.
After missing out on the doubles bracket last year, the Lady Vols will look to match previous success in the tournament. From 2009-2013, Tennessee has made the semifinals or better four times, including a championship appearance by Caitlin Whoriskey and Natalie Pluskota in 2010.
After receiving an at-large bid, Henderson and Williams will find out their opponents when the NCAA releases the official draw on May 19.
