POSTGAME NOTES
FOR THE RECORD
- The game was divided into offensive (White) and defensive (Orange) teams, with the Orange earning a steak dinner with its win, as decreed by head coach Butch Jones. The White squad will settle for hotdogs and baked beans.
- The Orange won for the second time in three seasons during the Jones era and moved the all-time record in this game to 26-26-3.
DRAWING ANOTHER NICE CROWD
- Despite the threat of rain and severe weather, which never materialized during the course of the game, Tennessee drew a crowd of 63,016, posting the third-largest attendance in UT spring game history.
- In three years of spring games under Butch Jones, the Volunteers have averaged 64,213 and have had three of the four highest crowds in UT history.

HONORARY COACHES
- First-year UT Men's Head Basketball Coach Rick Barnes served as an honorary coach for the defense, while Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Beth Alford-Sullivan was honorary coach for the offense.

- Some special awards were presented by the East Tennessee Chapter of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame during a brunch at The Foundry on Saturday.
- Former Appalachian State head coach Jerry Moore accepted the Robert R. Neyland Trophy beforehand.
- The Lindsey Nelson Award was presented to Gene Deckerhoff, the longtime radio voice of Florida State University and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- Tim Priest, a former Tennessee defensive back and color analyst for the Vol Network, received the Distinguished American honor.

RACKING UP THE POINTS
- The Orange held the White scoreless (via traditional methods) in the second half to capture at 54-44 victory.
- At the half, the White (Offense) held a 41-31 lead over the Orange (Defense).
- After three quarters, the White held a 44-43 lead.
- After the first period, the White led the Orange, 17-9.
- The game consisted of 15-minute first and second quarters and was followed by a 12-minute running clock in the third and fourth quarters.
THE OFFENSE
SIGNAL CALLERS
- Junior Joshua Dobbs appeared first at quarterback, with redshirt sophomore running back Alvin Kamara capping the opening drive with a two-yard touchdown run.
- Dobbs also appeared again on the third series, with the drive culminating with a 55-yard field goal from sophomore Aaron Medley.
- Dobbs was back for the game's fifth series, capping the drive with a 15-yard TD strike to sophomore tight end Ethan Wolf.
- Dobbs also came out the winner in the quarterback competition at the half, out-gunning freshman Quinten Dormady by hitting a series of targets around the field.
- Dormady made his Big Orange debut on the second series.
- Despite Dormady having a 15-yard completion to sophomore Josh Malone and a 12-yard toss to senior Pig Howard during his first drive of the day, his unit did not score after sophomore Aaron Medley's 33-yard field goal attempt was wide left.
- Dormady led the White to paydirt in his second attempt, tossing a 65-yard TD strike to sophomore wide receiver Josh Malone on the first play of the drive in the second period.
- Freshman Jauan Jennings was the third quarterback to appear, and his first series at the helm resulted in a punt.
- Jennings' second appearance resulted in a TD, courtesy of his own legs, on a 45-yard run in the second period.
PASSING GAME
- Freshman Quinten Dormady led the air attack with 96 yards and a touchdown on 5-of-11 passing
- Junior Joshua Dobbs looked sharp, leading his units to three scores in five series, finishing 5-of-8 for 94 yards for a touchdown and no picks.
- Dobbs had a 37-yard completion to senior wide receiver Johnathon Johnson on the opening drive and a 31-yard hook-up with senior wide receiver Pig Howard on Dobbs' second series.
- Dobbs connected with sophomore tight end Ethan Wolf for a 15-yard scoring strike in the second period on his third series.
- Freshman Quinten Dormady hit sophomore Josh Malone for a 65-yard touchdown in the second period on Dormady's second stint at quarterback.
- Dormady directed his units to one score on two attempts in the first half and finished 1-of-4 for the game.
- Freshman Jauan Jennings ended up 1-of-5 passing for 5 yards.
- Jennings directed his groups to one score in five tries under center.
- In the first half, Dobbs finished 5-of-7 passing for 94 yards and a touchdown, while Dormady was 4-of-5 for 90 yards and TD, and Jennings was 1-of-2 for 5 yards.
- Josh Malone led Tennessee in receiving for the second time in as many seasons, catching two passes for 80 yards and a TD off 65 yards.
- Malone caught six passes for 181 yards and three TDs last season.
RUNNING GAME
- Freshman running back Alvin Kamara scored the game's first touchdown on a two-yard run in the opening stanza.
- Sophomore running back Jalen Hurd's first touch resulted in a run of 26 yards and a first down in the second period.
- Freshman Jauan Jennings scored on a 45-yard jaunt in the second period in his second series as quarterback.
- Jennings ended up as Tennessee's leading rusher with 58 yards on nine carries.
- Redshirt sophomore running back Jasyon Sparks was the second-leading rusher with 51 yards on 12 carries.
- Sophomore Jalen Hurd had 40 yards on three rushes.
THE DEFENSE
MAKING STOPS
- Sophomore Evan Berry had six tackles in the first half to lead the defense and finished with a game-high nine.
- Berry had a big hit on redshirt sophomore A.J. Branisel for a two-yard loss in the opening period.
- Junior linebacker Jalen Reeves-Maybin sacked Josh Dobbs for a 10-yard loss in the first quarter and added another sack for two in the first half. He finished the game with 2 for a loss of 15 yards.
- Reeves-Maybin and sophomore defensive back Todd Kelly Jr. each had five stops in the first half. Kelly finished with six and Reeves-Maybin ended up with five.
- Freshman defensive lineman Andrew Butcher had a sack and finished with four total tackles and 1.5 tackles for losses for minus nine yards.
- Emmanuel Moseley, Colton Jumper, Brian Randolph and Malik Foreman each broke up passes.
BIG PLAYS BY THE ORANGE
- Junior defensive back Cameron Sutton collected a Pig Howard fumble out from the air and was credited with a 20-yard fumble return for a touchdown for the Orange in the second period.
SPECIAL TEAMS
KICKING GAME
- Sophomore Aaron Medley was 3-of-3 on PATs.
- Redshirt junior George Bullock was 2-of-2 on PATS
- Medley was 1-for-2 on field goals.
- Medley crushed a 55-yard field goal in the first period.
- Medley was wide left from 33 yards on a field goal in the first quarter.
- Medley and Bullock alternated on kickoffs.\
PUNTING GAME
- Redshirt sophomore Trevor Daniel finished with five punts for a 43.8 average.
- Daniel had a best punt of 49 yards in the second period, and kicks of 40, 39, 46 and 47 in the third quarter.
