Tennessee basketball coach Rick Barnes is one of 10 elite Division I coaches taking part in an auction to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society.
The online auction, open to the public, offers bidders the unique opportunity to attend a two-day "Beat Cancer" event presented by Farm Bureau Insurance. Auction winners and their guests will spend time with their favorite coach at a private dinner and golf outing at the prestigious Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills, Mich., on Sunday, May 31, and Monday, June 1.
Other coaches taking part in the event include Steve Alford (UCLA), John Beilein (Michigan), John Calipari (Kentucky), Bob Huggins (West Virginia), event host Greg Kampe (Oakland), Tom Izzo (Michigan State), Sean Miller (Arizona), Josh Pastner (Memphis) and Roy Williams (North Carolina).
Those interested can place their bid at coachesbeatcancer.org or text beatcancer to the number 24700. Bidding is open until May 1 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
Bidding starts at $10,000 for three golfers, with the selected coach completing a foursome. The 10 winning bidders, along with their two guests, will enjoy an exclusive experience to network, dine and golf with their selected coach at one of the world's top golf courses, Oakland Hills Country Club, host of six U.S. Opens, three PGA Championships and the 2004 Ryder Cup. The package also includes a one-night hotel stay for each guest in their own room at MotorCity Casino Hotel, a AAA Four-Diamond award winning hotel in Detroit.
All proceeds (100 percent) from the event benefit the American Cancer Society. Funds raised will support the Society's mission to save lives and finish the fight against cancer.
