Women's Tennis Downed 4-0 by #9 Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- The Tennessee Lady Vols fell to 8-8 on the season, following a 4-0 shutout by the No. 9 Alabama Crimson Tide on Sunday at Alabama Tennis Stadium.
In search of their first SEC win, the Volunteers were never able to get going against their top-10 opponent on the road.
In doubles, Danielle Spielmann and Luicelena Perez got things started for Alabama as they defeated sophomore Victoria Olivarez and junior Tiffany Tavares 8-6. The sophomore duo of Eve Repic and Laurence Guevremont dropped their match 8-3 to the team of Emily Zabor and Natalia Maynetto, giving the Tide an early 1-0 advantage.
Seniors Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams were in a battle with the No. 9 doubles team of Erin Routliffe and Maya Jansen, but their match was cut short after the doubles point had been clinched.
Henderson, Repic and Ashlee Boles all fell in straight set singles matches, giving Alabama their 11th win of the season and leaving Tennessee still looking for their first SEC win of the season.
Tennessee will return home next weekend as they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores on Friday and Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday at Goodfriend Tennis Center or Barksdale Stadium, pending on weather.
