Harrison Earns WBCA Recognition
March 25, 2015 | Women's Basketball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The WBCA announced the All-Region nominees for the 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team, and Tennessee's Isabelle Harrison is on that list.
The selection committee will select the 10-member WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team from the group of 52 candidates.
Harrison, a 6-foot-3 center from Nashville (Hillsboro H.S.) made the All-Region 3 list for the second straight season even though she appeared in only 21 games this year.
The senior led Tennessee in scoring at 12.2 points per game and rebounding at 8.6 despite facing defenses designed to limit her touches or prevent her space to move. She also ranks second on the squad with 26 blocked shots and has 13 steals to her credit.
Before her season ended on Feb. 15 with an ACL tear in her right knee vs. Kentucky, Harrison tallied 14 games in double figures, four 20-point outings and seven double-doubles. She finished her career with 31 double-doubles, which ranks sixth in school history. She also is one of 42 UT players to score 1,000 points in a career, tallying 1,071 in 112 games, and finished ninth in career blocks with 131.
The selection committee uses an equation to determine a fair number of nominees from each region. The number of Division I institutions in each region is divided by the number of Division I institutions overall to determine a percentage for each region. This percentage is then multiplied by 52 (the total number of desired finalists) to get the number of finalists for each region.
The 2015 WBCA Division I Coaches' All-America Team will be announced at 1:10 p.m. ET Sat., April 4, during NCAA® Women's Final Four® Super Saturday festivities in Amalie Arena.
