Vols Tied for First at Jackrabbit

First and Second Round Stats
PRIMM, Nev. -- The Tennessee men's golf team once again sits atop the 15 team leaderboard following the second round at the Jackrabbit Invitational. The Vols are tied with UNLV at 37-under par, 35 strokes ahead of the next opponent. Four Vols began the final round inside the top-10.
On Monday, the Vols got off to a hot start by firing a 14-under par 274 during round one. Freshman Lorenzo Scalise posted an impressive bogey-free 5-under par 67 to lead the squad. Scalise followed it up with a second round 68 (-4) to finish day one 9-under par and in a tie for 6th place.
Junior Michael Nagy posted a 4-under par 68 during round one and followed it up with a career-low 66 (-6) during the second round to find himself in a tie for second place at 10-under par. Like Nagy, Merzbacher also finished day one 10-under par. Merzbacher shot a first round 2-under par 70 and followed it up with a career-low 64 (-8), highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 13th, to tie Nagy at 10-under par for the day.
Sophomore Jack Smith found himself 3-under par after the first round and followed it up with an impressive 5-under par 67 in round two to find himself in eighth place at 8-under par. Fellow sophomore Juan Carlos Serrano Guevara carded 1-under par 71 and 3-over par 75 to sit in a tie for 33rd place following the first two rounds.
After having to withdraw from last week's event, junior Michael Monroe is competing as an individual and posted scores of 75 (+3) and 73 (+1) to finish day one 4-over par and in a tie for 47th place.
UNLV posted scores of 272-267--539 (-37) on day one to tie the Vols atop the leaderboard heading to the final round. Kurt Kitayama of UNLV carded 67-64--131 (-13) to put himself three strokes ahead of Merzbacher and Nagy on the individual leaderboard.
The Vols began the final round off holes 1-3 at 11:30 a.m. (ET) alongside UNLV and Weber State.
