@Vol_Hoops Finishes 13th in Attendance
March 16, 2015 | Men's Basketball
Tennessee drew an average of 15,064 fans to its home games at Thompson-Boling Arena this season. That marks the 13th-highest average home attendance in the nation.
This is the 10th consecutive season that Tennessee has ranked in the top 15 in the country in average home attendance. And it is the 20th year that UT has averaged at least 15,000 fans per game at Thompson-Boling Arena.
"To average more than 15,000 fans per game speaks volumes about our incredible fan base," UT head coach Donnie Tyndall said. "Tennessee fans create a true homecourt advantage at Thompson-Boling Arena. It's an atmosphere matched by very few arenas in the country--college or professional. It's the kind of atmosphere in which great players want to compete."
The outstanding homecourt advantage provided by their exceptional crowds enabled the Vols to defeat a pair of top-20 opponents in Knoxville this season, as UT downed 15th-ranked Butler and 19th-ranked Arkansas.
Among the top-20 teams in average home attendance this year, Tennessee is one only four programs that has never appeared in a Final Four (joining Creighton, BYU and Nebraska). That speaks to the passion and loyalty the UT fan base has for its basketball program.
Since Thompson-Boling Arena opened for the 1987-88 season, more than 7.3 million fans have watched the Vols play in the riverfront facility.
