Lady Vols Sweep Doubleheader

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Lady Vols defeated the Detroit Titans and the Western Michigan Broncos in a doubleheader today to improve to 6-1 on the season.
The team picked up its first win in a 6-1 match over the Titans, giving co-head coaches Mike Patrick and Sonia Hahn-Patrick their 300th career victory together.
"Its exciting to have 300 wins and to do it with Mike is even more special," Hahn-Patrick said after the match. "We look forward to continuing the tradition and hope to bring more success to the program this season."
In the team's second match of the doubleheader, Tennessee beat Western Michigan 6-1 as well.
Seniors Joanna Henderson and Caitlyn Williams won against Sasha Nionova and Valeryia Kulikovskaythe from Detroit 6-1 to improve to 10-3 on the season together. Sophomores Eve Repic and Laurence Guevremont didn't finish their first match of the day but beat Olivia Myers and Barbare Eristavi from Western Michigan 7-6 (2) in their second match. The win improved their win streak to eight matches in a row on the season.
Junior Tiffany Tavares and sophomore Victoria Olivarez won both of their matches in doubles to end the weekend. They beat Detroit's Anna Davydova and Nynke Van Der Goot 6-0 as well as Tracy Kuhle and Ella Perinovic from Western Michigan 6-3.
Henderson, Olivarez, Tavares and sophomore Ashlee Boles all won both of their matches on the day in singles. Boles extended her win streak to six in a row for the season. Repic and Guevremont both split the day 1-1 in singles.
The Lady Vols will be back in action when they play the Ohio State Buckeyes at home on Feb. 13 at 2 p.m.
