Tennessee improves to 7-5 on the season with all seven wins coming at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Tuesday marked the final game of the pre-conference schedule for Tennessee, which will open conference play Saturday at Auburn.
The Vols improve to 6-0 all-time against Tennessee State.
Sophomore guard Detrick Mostella finished in double figures for the third straight game, logging 16 against Tennessee State on Tuesday. It is the longest such streak of his career.
Over his last three, Mostella is averaging 15.3 points per game. He finished with 13 against Gonzaga and matched his career-high with 17 against ETSU.
With three blocks on Tuesday, senior Armani Moore reached 100 blocks for his career. He is the 13th Vol all-time to reach that milestone.
It was the seventh multi-block game of the season for Moore, who currently ranks 13th on Tennessee's all-time blocks list with 101 career rejections. At 6-4, Moore is the shortest player in Tennessee's top 15 for career blocks.
Moore had entered the game ranked fifth in the SEC in blocks per game at 1.9.
With a made 3-point field goal early in the first half, Devon Baulkman pushed his streak of consecutive games with three to 11 games.
That streak is the longest since Jordan McRae hit a three in 25 consecutive games to begin the 2013-14 season. McRae had connected on a three in each of his final 12 games of the 2012-13 season, running his overall streak to 37 games.
Baulkman has 25 made 3-pointers this season, good for nearly 30 percent of the team's total.
The Volunteers won the rebounding battle 39-30 and improved to 5-1 when out-rebounding their opponent this season.
Armani Moore led the way with 14 rebounds -- his second consecutive game with double-digits on the boards -- and a season-high four offensive rebounds.
Tennessee turned 14 offensive rebounds into 16 second chance points en route to the victory.
After scoring six points in the paint in the first half, the Volunteers scored 22 of their 38 second half points in the paint.
The Vols only made three buckets from inside the arc in the first half, but hit 14 two point field goals in completing the second half comeback.
Tuesday's game concluded Tennessee's pre-conference schedule as it begins SEC play Saturday at Auburn.
Tipoff for that contest is slated for 2 p.m. ET and will air on CBS.
Tennessee is on an eight-game winning streak against Auburn that dates back to March 2009. The Vols defeated the Tigers in their only meeting last season, a 71-63 win in Knoxville.
UT is 75-37 all-time against the Tigers, but just 22-26 in games played at Auburn.
Over its last 10 seasons, Tennessee is 8-2 in SEC-openers.
