KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- Tennessee Baseball junior Nick Senzel has been named a 2016 Louisville Slugger Preseason All-America selection, as announced by Collegiate Baseball on Tuesday.
Tabbed a 2015 Summer Collegiate All-American First Team player by Perfect Game earlier this year, Senzel hit .364 for the Cape Cod League's Brewster Whitecaps with a league-leading 33 RBI to earn a 2015 All-Star bid, Most Outstanding Pro Prospect and Cape Cod League Most Valuable Player honors. Over 40 games, the Knoxville native and former Farragut High School standout recorded 56 hits, 16 doubles and scored 34 runs, leading the Cape Cod League in each respective category.
As a sophomore last season, Senzel was named a Preseason All-SEC player and hit .325 with a .399 on-base percentage in 50 starts for the Volunteers. As the Vols' primary second baseman, Senzel led the team in batting average, hits (65), doubles (12) and triples (5), while his 28 RBI and .399 OBP ranked second behind former All-SEC outfielder and Detroit Tigers first-round pick Christin Stewart.
In 2014, Senzel earned Freshman All-American honors from Louisville Slugger and Perfect Game, as well as an SEC All-Freshman Team nod after hitting .315 with 57 hits, 37 runs scored and 14 stolen bases during his debut season on Rocky Top.
Entering his junior campaign in 2016, Senzel owns a .320 average with 24 doubles, five homers and 67 RBI over 103 career games.
