BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee junior quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been named to the 2015 SEC Community Service Team for football, as announced by the Southeastern Conference office on Wednesday.
The SEC names a Community Service Team for each of its 21 league-sponsored sports, looking to highlight an athlete from each school who gives back to his community through superior service efforts.
The other members of the 2015 SEC Football Community Service Team include Alabama's Reggie Ragland, Arkansas' Deatrich Wise, Jr., Auburn's Jonathan Wallace, Florida's Mark Herndon, Georgia's Malcolm Mitchell, Kentucky's Landon Foster, LSU's Jamie Keehn, Ole Miss' Jamie Keehn, Mississippi State's Taveze Calhoun, Missouri's Clarence Green, South Carolina's Elliott Fry, Texas A&M's Conner McQueen and Vanderbilt's Stephen Weatherly.
Dobbs has volunteered at numerous events and he has spent much of his free time making a difference in the community. His volunteer work has included:
Dobbs helped lead the Vols to an 8-4 regular-season record (the program's first eight-win season since 2007). He has enjoyed his best season on the field, passing for a career-high 2,125 yards with 15 touchdowns to just five interceptions. He has also run for a career-best 623 yards, breaking Jimmy Streater's single-season record for most rushing yards by a quarterback (593 in 1978). Tennessee is bowl-eligible for the second-straight year and on Dec. 6 the Vols will learn which bowl they will play in.
