KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In the final regular-season College Football Playoff ranking, Tennessee is ranked 25th, marking the first time in the two years of the poll the Vols are ranked.
The Vols (8-4, 5-3 SEC) have won five games in a row heading into a bowl. The Orange & White are one of five SEC teams in the poll following #2 Alabama, #13 Ole Miss, #18 Florida and #21 LSU. The Vols have also played #3 Oklahoma and defeated #4 Iowa in the 2015 TaxSlayer Bowl.
It is the first time since the 2007 season, the Vols finish the regular-season ranked in a poll. That year, Tennessee was 14th in the AP Poll heading into the SEC Championship Game and finished the season 12th in both the AP and Coaches Poll.
Tennessee opened the 2015 season ranked #25 in the Associated Press and Coaches polls and moved to #23 in the second week before falling out the poll following the loss to the Sooners.
