Postgame Notes
The Basics
- Tonight's game represented the lone exhibition contest on Tennessee's 2015-16 schedule.
- First-year head coach Rick Barnes is the program's 20th head coach all-time.
- Barnes is also the fourth head coach for Tennessee in the last decade.
The Newcomers
- Ten players saw action for Tennessee on Friday night, including three newcomers: Kyle Alexander, Ray Kasongo, Admiral Schofield.
- Alexander scored four points in 10 minutes of action while Kasongo scored one field goal for two points in three minutes.
With The Win ...
- Tennessee improves to 74-18 all-time in exhibition play.
- The Vols have won 12 consecutive exhibition games dating back to 2010.
For Starters
- Tennessee started Kevin Punter, Detrick Mostella , Devon Baulkman, Armani Moore, and Derek Reese.
- First off the bench: Robert Hubbs III (16:54). He was followed by Admiral Schofield (16:29) and Jabari McGhee (11:06).
- In all, Tennessee played 10 players vs. Alabama-Huntsville.
First Half Pace
- Tennessee took a 62-41 lead into the halftime locker room.
- With 62 points over the first 20 minutes of action, the Vols nearly matched last season’s full-game scoring average of 63.3. points per game.
- The Vols scored 30 points from beyond the arc, going 10-of-22 from three during the first half. Tennessee’s high for three point shots made in a game during the 2014-15 season was 13 (vs. Tennessee State, 12/27/14).
- Tennessee recorded 44 possessions in the first half with the average time of those possessions clocking in at 13 seconds. The Vols scored at a rate of 1.41 points per possession.
- The Vols gained some early separation when it used a 17-4 run to break a 10-10 tie. Kevin Punter, Robert Hubbs III, and Detrick Mostella hit threes during the flurry.
Moore & Punter
- The senior duo of Armani Moore and Kevin Punter combined to score 54 of Tennessee's 96 points on Friday night.
- Moore led all scorers on the night with 29 while Punter chipped in 25.
- The pair also combined for 10 total assists with each dishing out five.
- Moore scored his 29 in 28 minutes of work while Punter logged the most time for the Vols with 36 minutes of action.
Double Digits
- Four players finished in double digit scoring for the Vols:
- Armani Moore - 29
- Kevin Punter - 25
- Robert Hubbs III - 15
- Devon Baulkman - 11
- Alabama-Huntsville saw three players score in double figures as Seab Webster led the way with 21 points. Both Chayse Elliott and Kip Owens scored 10 off the bench.
- Armani Moore also turned in a game-high 10 rebounds, giving him a double-double.
Comparatively Speaking
- Because Friday night's contest was an exhibition, its statistics will not officially stand in the record books. But here's a look at how Tennessee's numbers stacked up with those from the 2014-15 regular season.
- Tennessee converted 13 three-point shots on Friday night, going 13-of-35 from beyond the arc. That figure matches the most made threes for the Vols in 2014-15 as they hit 13 against Tennessee State on Dec. 27, 2014. The most three-point attempts from UT last season was 29 against both TSU and Texas A&M (1/24/15).
- The fast-paced Tennessee offense produced 19 assists on Friday night, matching the best output from last season when UT handed out 19 dimes vs. ETSU (12/31/14).
- Tennessee scored 62 points in the first half en route to 96 for the game. The Vols averaged 63.3 points per game last season, including a high of 78 at LSU (3/4/15).
