The in-state product talks big hits off the field and on the music charts, his flow and more in this week's Five Questions.
1. You're a guy that takes a lot of pride in his blocking, what is the biggest hit you have delivered?
A: There isn't one that really sticks out. I try to deliver at least one big hit each game, so watch each tape and pick whichever one you like.
(Even though it's not a block, I pick this one - BR):
There was a rumor going around that you were walking around the complex blasting 90's favorite Sugar Ray from your iPod. Is that true and is there a song or type of music that gets you ready to play?
A: Sugar Ray's "When It's Over" and "Someday" are two great songs.
I listen to all types of music, country, rap, hip-hop, rock, I like Metallica, stuff like that. I'm really diverse in my musical selections.
What is your most memorable moment at Tennessee?
A: I would have to say the bowl game last season. That was a pretty good time, winning the game, winning by that much, and having that feeling of just "Wow, that was really all worth it."
What is something people would be surprised to know about Jalen Hurd?
A: I'm a little bit of an outdoorsy guy, I like to get outside and do outdoorsy types of things. I'm not someone that likes to stay in the house.
What is your most prized possession?
A: Probably my hair. Let's go with that. I put a lot of time into my hair. I'm still growing it out, letting it do its thing. There's not an end goal with it, I just want to let it grow as long as I can.
What is it like to be on a team with so much talent, where everyone seems genuinely excited for each other's success?
A: I feel like we can all makes plays, so however many plays we make each game, it doesn't really matter as long as we win the game. I hope that's not unusual because that is what a team is. Whoever can make the plays can get the team a "W," that's what we are all about.
