HALFTIME NOTES
Tennessee Tidbits
- At the half, Tennessee leads Missouri by a score of 16-0.
- Tennessee’s defense has recorded seven consecutive quarters of shutout football. The last such streak for a UT defense came in 2002, when the Vols posted back-to-back shutouts against Vanderbilt and Kentucky to conclude the regular season.
- With a temperature of 28 degrees at kickoff, tonight’s game against Missouri is the fourth-coldest game UT history and the coldest game played since Nov. 26, 1977, when the Vols defeated Vanderbilt in a 42-7 contest in Knoxville (25 degrees).
- The Big Orange entered tonight’s contest with a 47-17 record in November since 2000 and to 316-125-21 all-time during the 11th month of the year.
- Tennessee looks to break a three-game losing streak vs. Missouri, dating back to 2012 when the Tigers joined the Southeastern Conference.
Vol Captains
- Tennessee captains were senior Brian Randolph, redshirt senior Kyler Kerbyson, junior Joshua Dobbs and redshirt senior Owen Williams.
- Tennessee won the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Missouri elected to receive in the first half.
For Starters
- Johnathon Johnson started for the Vols at wide receiver against Mizzou, his first start of the season and the third start of his career.
Offensive Highlights
- Tennessee outgained Missouri in yardage during the first quarter, 98-19. Over their last four games, the Vols have outgained opponents 589-102 (UT 144 - 2 UK, UT 177 - 28 SC, UT 170 - 53 NT) in the first quarter.
- QB Joshua Dobbs rushed for an 8-yard touchdown with less than .30 seconds left in the first half.
- With a 6-yard reception on the first play in the second quarter, sophomore TE Ethan Wolf is now the only Vol with at least one catch in every game this season and has a reception in his last 11 straight games.
- QB Joshua Dobbs was 12-of-17 for 73 yards passing in the first half, connecting with five different receivers.
- Sophomore Jalen Hurd rushed for 108 yards on 16 attempts in the first half, marking his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the year.
- Through the first half, Tennessee rushed for 121 yards. On the season, Mizzou has averaged only 113.7 rushing yards allowed per game.
Defensively Speaking
- On the Tigers’ first possession of the game, Cameron Sutton intercepted a pass at the Tennessee 49-yard line, marking his first interception of the season and sixth of his career.
- Darrin Kirkland Jr. recovered a Missouri fumble in the second quarter, giving his Vols possession at the 37-yard line. The fumble was forced by LaTroy Lewis.
- Freshman Kahlil McKenzie recorded his first career sack against the Tigers in the second quarter.
- Through the first half, Kirkland Jr. and redshirt senior Brian Randolph lead the Volunteers’ defense, each with four total tackles vs. the Tigers.
- On the final play of the first half, Corey Vereen recorded a sack, his third of the year.
Special Teams
- Aaron Medley kicked a 34-yard field goal to put UT on the board in the first quarter. Medley made his second field goal of the game - a 22-yarder in the second half - to further UT’s lead.
- WIth a 44-yard field goal in the second quarter, Medley made his third field goal of the game, tying his career high for the third time. He improved to 16-of-25 on field goals this season and 36-of-51 for his career. He has also now madeof his last eight field goal attempts since Oct. 24 at Alabama.
- Medley made his one PAT in the first half. On the season, he is now 44-of-44 and is 86-of-87 in his UT career.
- Trevor Daniel added to his impressive punting record, landing his first punt of the night inside the 10 for his 12th of the season.
- Daniel also boomed a 61-yard punt in the second quarter, tying his career high for the third time this season.
Upon Further Review
- Linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. recovered a Missouri fumble in the second quarter, giving his Vols possession at the 37-yard line. Upon review, the ruling on the field was confirmed for a Tennessee first down.
