Vols End Fall on High Note
November 15, 2015 | Women's Tennis
SARASOTA, Fla. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team finished the fall season on a high note, as freshman Kim Kermet won the consolation draw in singles at the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic on Sunday.
Kermet faced East Tennessee State's Marina Espana in the finals of the consolation draw, defeating her 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (1). It was Kermet's fourth victory of the tournament and picking up her seventh win of the season.
"It was a great experience competing in the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate tournament," Kermet said. "I competed against a lot of tough players, and I'm very happy that I came out victorious. I'll use this experience to prepare for the spring season, and I can't wait to compete with the entire team in a team format this spring."
Freshman Sadie Hammond also competed on the final day of the tournament, facing Lyn Yee Choo from East Tennessee State. Hammond breezed to her 10th win of the season with a 6-0, 6-1 victory.
This concludes the fall season for Tennessee. The team will be back in action on January 13-15, as they compete in the Michigan Invitational before starting their spring season.
