POSTGAME NOTES
Tennessee Tidbits
- Attendance at today's game was 96,197.
- Tennessee played host to its 92nd homecoming game and improved to 70-19-3 in those contests.
- The Vols have won 29 of their last 32 homecoming games dating back to 1984.
- UT evened the series with North Texas at 1-1. The Mean Green claimed the only other meeting, 21-14, on Oct. 25, 1975.
- Tennessee improved to 14-7 all-time vs. teams from Texas, with its previous game vs. a school from the Lone Star State coming against Houston (W, 42-7) on Sept. 26, 1998.
- With the win, the Vols became bowl eligible for the second year in a row for the first time since back-to-back trips in 2009 and 2010.
- The Big Orange improved to 47-17 in November since 2000 and to 316-125-21 all-time during the 11th month of the year.
Special Recognition
- Today's Vol Legend of the Game was Haskel Stanback, a running back who lettered at Tennessee from 1971-73.
- The Kannapolis, N.C., native finished his career with 1,730 yards rushing, including 890 yards and 13 touchdowns in his junior season.
Vol Captains
- Tennessee captains were senior Brian Randolph, senior LaDarrell McNeil, senior Johnathon Johnson and junior Joshua Dobbs.
- Tennessee won the coin toss and elected to receive.
Orange On Orange
- The Vols donned orange pants for the first time this season, sporting a full orange uniform for the first time since last year's Alabama game (Oct. 25, 2014).
- The full orange combination was popular under Head Coach Johnny Majors in the 1980s. The Vols are 3-3 in their last six times wearing orange-on-orange:

Offensive Highlights
- Alvin Kamara put Tennessee on top early, scoring only 1:09 into the game on a 27-yard run.
- Kamara hit pay-dirt again with 13:47 to go in the fourth to help extend UT's lead to 24-0. It was his sixth rushing TD of the season and 10th overall (including receiving and punt returns).
- Kamara finished with 127 yards rushing on 15 carries with two scores, recording his second 100-yard game of the season. His previous effort came vs. Bowling Green in the season opener in Nashville, when he carried 15 times for a career-best 144 yards and a pair of TDs.
- The redshirt sophomore running back now has scored at least two touchdowns in five different games this season (Bowling Green, Western Carolina, Georgia, South Carolina, North Texas).
- Jalen Hurd found the end zone from one yard out to open the second quarter for Tennessee, putting the Vols on top, 14-0, with 14:57 remaining in the first half. It marked Hurd's 10th rushing touchdown of the season and 15th of his career.
- Hurd finished with 72 yards on 15 carries with one touchdown.
- Quarterback Joshua Dobbs (15-23-136, 0 TD, 1 INT) connected with nine different receivers in the game, with Josh Malone catching four balls for 38 yards from the junior signal-caller to pace UT's pass-catchers.
- True freshman quarterback Quinten Dormady came on in the fourth quarter, seeing action in his fourth game this season. He finished 3-of-5 for 36 yards with no TDs or INTs.
- UT tallied 409 total yards, the seventh time this season to move past 400.
- The Vols were 7-of-16 on third down conversions and went 3-of-3 on fourth down.
Breezing Past 2,000
- With two regular season games still to play in 2015, the Vols have eclipsed the 2,000-yard rushing plateau. This is only the fourth time in the past 16 years Tennessee has accomplished that feat.
- After rolling up 237 yards vs. North Texas today, Tennessee stands at 2,103 on the season through 10 contests. The Vols rushed for 1,903 last season in 13 games.
- In the last 12 years, Tennessee's best rushing tallies are 2,261 yards in 2013 and 2,418 in 2004.
- UT rushed for 200+ yards for the sixth time this season with its fourth-best total.
- Alvin Kamara led the rushing attack with 127 yards on 15 carries, while Jalen Hurd added 72 on 15 totes.
Defensively Speaking
- The Vols recorded a shutout vs. North Texas, posting the defense's first since defeating Austin Peay, 45-0, in 2013.
- The goose egg on offense was UNT's first since 2011.
- The UT stop-troops now have kept opponents scoreless in five straight quarters dating to the South Carolina game.
- Linebacker Darrin Kirkland Jr. had eight tackles to lead the Vols defense for the second game in a row. He shared the lead last week with Jalen Reeves-Maybin.
- UT limited the Mean Green to only 199 yards of total offense, marking the fewest total yards allowed since UT gave up only 142 vs. UT Martin on Sept. 4, 2010. Against BCS opponents, it was the lowest since UCLA had 186 on Sept. 12, 2009.
- Tennessee limited North Texas to 92 yards yards rushing, marking the first time since Nov. 15, 2014, vs. Kentucky (94 yards), that the Vols had prevented a opponent from gaining 100 yards on the ground.
- UNT converted only 2-of-12 third down tries and was 0-for-2 on fourth down.
- Tennessee registered two sacks for the game, both in the first half, with Chris Weatherd and Derek Barnett getting credit for those takedowns.
Special Teams
- Aaron Medley kicked a 34-yard field goal to put UT on top, 17-0, with 2:41 remaining in the first half. He improved to 13-of-21 on field goals this season and 33-of-47 for his career.
- Since missing all three attempts at Alabama on Oct. 24, Medley is 4-of-4 in his last three games.
- Medley kicked 3-of-3 PATs. He is 43-of-43 this season and 85-of-86 for his career.
- Trevor Daniel added to his impressive punting record, landing two more punts inside the 10 for his 10th and 11th of the season. He finished with four inside the 20 to up his total to 19 in that category.
