Kermet Rolling in Consolation Draw

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Freshman Ashley Bongart fell in the quarterfinals of the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic on Saturday, while freshman Kim Kermet advanced to the finals of the consolation bracket.
Paired against the No. 4 seed in the tournament, Bongart faced Florida's Spencer Liang in the quarterfinals. Liang took the match, 6-3, 6-2, eliminating the final Volunteer in the main draw.
In the consolation draw, Kermet breezed past Gabrielle M. Paul from Memphis, 6-1, 6-2, in the quarterfinals. In the semifinal match, she defeated Alanna Wolff from Princeton, 7-5, after Wolff retired due to injury.
Kermet will face Marina Espana from East Tennessee State in the finals of the consolation bracket on Sunday at Lakewood Ranch Country Club.
