Vols Finish Fall Invite

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The Tennessee women's tennis team struggled during the final day of the UT Fall Invite at Goodfriend Tennis Center on Sunday.
Junior Brittany Lindl was the lone Volunteer to come out victorious. She faced Luisa Fernandez from Wake Forest. The match was a close one, as Lindl took the first set 6-3 but dropped the second in a tiebreaker. With Fernandez ahead two games and serving for match, Lindl stormed back to take to force another tiebreaker in the third set. This time, she would not lose, taking the match 6-3, 6-7 (6), 7-6 (4).
Freshman Sadie Hammond lost to Kimmy Guerin, the No. 84 ranked player in the ITA preseason singles rankings. Both players struggled to break serve in the first set, forcing a tiebreaker. Guerin took the tiebreaker 7-2 and never looked back, winning the match 7-6 (2), 6-2. Junior Eve Repic and senior Tiffany Tavares both forced three-set matches, but fell to their opponents.
The Vols faced Ohio State in doubles to start their day. They were swept by the Buckeyes, losing all three matches.
Tennessee will be back in action on November 13, as they travel to compete in the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic in Sarasota, Fla. to finish the fall season.
