Tennessee Falls to Texas A&M, 3-0

The Tennessee volleyball team lost to Texas A&M in three sets (14-25, 23-25, 18-25) Sunday afternoon at Thompson-Boling Arena.
The Aggies (15-6, 8-2 SEC) stretched their win streak to six and have only dropped one set in their last five matches. Tennessee (20-7, 6-6 SEC) falls to .500 in the SEC with the loss.
The loss marks only the second home loss of the season, falling to 9-2. The 3-0 defeat is only the third time that the Vols have lost in three sets this season.
Senior setter Lexi Dempsey recorded her team-leading 12th double-double fo the season, recording 28 assists and 10 digs. Kendra Turner led Tennessee with 11 kills, her second consecutive match with at least 10. Bri Holmes added nine kills.
The Aggies and Vols went back-and-forth early in the first set as there were four lead changes before either team hit 10. Texas A&M used a 16-5 run to win the first set, 25-14, while posting a .417 hitting percentage. Tennessee hit .103 in the set.
The Vols opened the second set with a 5-1 lead with two kills from Bri Holmes and one from both Raina Hembry and Erica Treiber.
Texas A&M took the second set, 25-23, despite a Volunteer push at the end. The Vols fended off two set points from the Aggies to get within one at 24-23, but an Emily Hardesty kill gave Texas A&M the set.
Holmes led the Vols with the seven kills in the second, while Kendra Turner posted four.
Texas A&M never trailed in the final set, taking control of the set after a 9-2 run pushed its lead to 15-7. The Aggies won the final set, 25-18. Turner had five kills in the third set for the Vols.
Tennessee hits the road for a match at Alabama Friday at 8 p.m. ET followed by a home contest with Kentucky at 1 p.m. ET. Sunday.
