Treiber Earns SEC Freshman Honors Again

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee middle hitter Erica Treiber was named SEC Freshman of the Week for a second time this season, the conference office announced Monday.
Treiber posted 18 kills and a team-leading 13 blocks over the weekend as Tennessee (16-3, 2-2 SEC) defeated Alabama at home 3-1 on Friday and lost to Missouri 3-1 on Sunday.
Treiber recorded nine kills and eight blocks in the home victory over the Crimson Tide. She followed that with nine kills and five blocks against Missouri. She averaged 2.25 kills and 1.63 blocks per set over the two matches.
A native of Unionville, Mich., Treiber has started all 19 matches this season and leads Tennessee in both hitting percentage (.357) and blocks per set (1.14). Her hitting percentage ranks eighth in the SEC.
She was also named SEC Freshman of the Week on Sept. 8 after being named to the all-tournament team at the DISH Tennessee Volleyball Classic.
The Vols have a quick turnaround before the next match, playing at LSU on Wednesday at 9 p.m. Eastern. It will be televised nationally on ESPNU. They will also host Arkansas on Sunday at 1:30 p.m.
