Rowing Competes at Secret City

OAK RIDGE, TENN. – The Tennessee Rowing team sent two novice boats to the Secret City Head Race on the Tennessee River in Oak Ridge on Saturday.
Tennessee finished second and fourth in the women’s Novice 8+ race. The first boat finished in 22:31.6 to take second place while the other boat clocked in at 24:08.1.
Murray State won the race with a 21:58.4 time while Vanderbilt finished in third place with a mark of 23:22.6. Chattanooga finished fifth with a time of 24:51.7.
This was the first race for the group of Volunteer novices who began rowing for the first time last month.
“The novices had a good first race experience today in Oak Ridge,” Head Coach Lisa Glenn said. “We are looking forward to each of the exciting next steps they will take as they develop their rowing skill and endurance.”
The Volunteers will be back in action on Saturday, November 7 when the team competes at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tenn.
