Dobbs Collects Manning, Maxwell Weekly Honors
October 15, 2015 | Football
The awards continue to roll in for Vols quarterback Joshua Dobbs. On Thursday, he was named the Manning Award Quarterback Of The Week and the Maxwell Award Player Of The Week. Dobbs guided the Vols to a thrilling comeback win over #19 Georgia with 430 yards of total offense and five touchdowns.
Dobbs has been selected as the Manning Award Quarterback of the Week. He earns the win over seven other Manning Award Stars of the Week in the Allstate Sugar Bowl's Facebook contest. The Alpharetta, Ga., native went 25-of-42 for a career-high 312 yards and three touchdowns with one interception. Dobbs added 118 yards and two scores on the ground, including the go-ahead score with 5:48 remaining, as the Volunteers erased a 21-point deficit to come from behind and upend No. 19 Georgia, 38-31. Dobbs’ performance earned him SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors and marked just the second time in Tennessee history that a quarterback had thrown for 300 yards and rushed for 100 yards. The 6-3, 207-pound signal caller also accomplished the feat last year against South Carolina.
