BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tennessee quarterback Joshua Dobbs has been named the SEC Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Monday.
The national weekly honors for Dobbs came rolling in on Sunday. He was named the Walter Camp Football Bowl Subdivision National Offensive Player of the Week, presented by Generation UCAN, for games ending Oct. 10.
Dobbs was also named the Offensive Player of the Week by Athlon Sports, picked as a nominee for the Capital One Impact Performance of the Week, and recognized by the Davey O'Brien Award for his "O' My Performance."
Additionally, he was named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Offensive Player of the Week.
Dobbs went 25-for-42 for a career-high 312 passing yards and three touchdowns and also ran for 118 yards and two scores to lead Tennessee to a 38-31 comeback win over No. 19/16 Georgia on Saturday at Neyland Stadium. His performance marked just the second time in UT history that a Vols quarterback had thrown for 300 yards and rushed for 100 yards (he previously accomplished the feat last year against South Carolina).
His 430 total yards was the fifth-best total yards mark in Tennessee history. Dobbs now holds the fourth and fifth-best performances in program history. Tyler Bray holds the school record with 530 total yards against Troy in 2012. Peyton Manning has a hold on second and third spots on the list with 508 against Kentucky in 1997 and 475 against Florida in 1996. Dobbs' performances are the only ones to include positive rushing yards, as Manning was in the negative in both games and Bray had no rushes and no sacks in his record day.
Tennessee's comeback from a 24-3 second-quarter deficit tied for the third-biggest comeback in program history and the second-biggest UT comeback at Neyland Stadium.
Dobbs is the fourth Tennessee player to earn Walter Camp National Player of the Week honors since 2004 and the first Vol honoree since Eric Ainge on Oct. 8, 2006.
This is the 12th year that the Walter Camp Football Foundation will honor one offensive and one defensive player as its national Football Bowl Subdivision player of the week during the regular season. Recipients are selected by a panel of national media members and administered by the Foundation.
Dobbs earns his second career Offensive Player of the Week honor from Athlon Sports, the same web publication that recognized him as a third team All-SEC quarterback in the preseason. Dobbs' last weekly award from Athlon Sports came on Nov. 2, 2015 when he was selected as the National Player of the Week following another 300-yard passing, 100-yard rushing performance in a win at South Carolina.
