January 26, 2015 | Women's Basketball
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Tennessee senior Isabelle Harrison has been named the SEC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Harrison was announced as the winner on Monday, based on her performance during the Lady Vols' three games last week. Earlier this season, she had collected her first career SEC Player of the Week honor on Dec. 29
The 6-foot-3 center led Tennessee in scoring and rebounding last week, as Tennessee went 2-1 in games vs. two ranked teams and another receiving votes in the polls. She averaged 15.3 points and 8.7 rebounds as the Lady Vols defeated #22/19 Georgia (59-51) and LSU (75-58) and lost at #6/7 Notre Dame (77-88). She also shot 47 percent from the field and 84 percent from the free throw line.
Harrison was a sizzling 9-of-11 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the free throw for 25 points while adding eight rebounds and a steal vs. the Lady Tigers.
At Notre Dame, Harrison popped in 12 points, pulled down nine rebounds and added two steals an assistant and a block.
Against, Georgia she played only five minutes in the first half due to foul trouble before bouncing back to tally nine points and nine rebounds in the second half. Her play over the final 20 minutes helped UT overcome a five-point deficit and lift UT to 17-3 overall and 7-0 in the league play. It also gave UT its 14th straight win over an SEC foe and 16th consecutive victory at home.
Harrison and the #6 Lady Vols jump back into action on Thursday, as they meet their sixth top-10 foe of the season when they face #10 Kentucky in Lexington. Tip is set for 7 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
