BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Tailback Jalen Hurd was named the SEC Freshman Of The Week on Monday Night. Hurd rushed 23 times for 83 yards in Tennessee's 34-19 win over Arkansas State, including a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, the first of his career.
Hurd is the first tailback from Tennessee to be named SEC Freshman Of The Week since Arian Foster was honored on Nov. 28, 2005. Hurd is Tennessee's first overall freshmen award weekly winner since Curt Maggitt was recognized on Nov. 19, 2011.
Hurd and the Vols return to action at #4/3 Oklahoma on Saturday night in a game that airs on ABC.
