Letterman's T-Club Honors Klenck, Williams

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The University Tennessee Lettermen's "T" Club officially honored two distinguished members of the Volunteer family during its annual Lettermen's dinner Friday night September 5th at the Foundry. A special on-field ceremony takes place at Saturday's Tennessee-Arkansas State football game.
The club is granting Honorary Membership status to Dr. Chris Klenck, University of Tennessee Team Physician. Honorary membership to the "T" Club may be bestowed on an individual for outstanding achievement reflecting favorably on the University of Tennessee and specifically its men's and/or women's athletic programs. Nominees shall not have been a letterman in any sport at the University of Tennessee and shall not have been previously awarded this distinction. The award is considered the club's highest honor.
Dr. CHRIS KLENCK
Dr. Chris Klenck was named to the post of University of Tennessee team physician in Nov. 2006 following a primary care sports medicine fellowship at Indiana University Medical Center. He served the Indianapolis hospital since June 2001 in the positions of internal medicine/pediatrics intern, internal medicine/pediatrics resident and internal medicine/pediatrics chief resident. During his fellowship training, Klenck was an assistant team physician for the Indianapolis Colts preseason training camps, an assistant team physician at Purdue University, his alma mater and worked the NFL Scouting Combines in Indianapolis.
He has NCAA championships experience and served as a team physician in the Indiana high school ranks.With a particular passion for working with active individuals and athletes, Dr. Klenck enjoys helping his patients recover from an injury or illness and successfully return to their sport or activity. As an adult and pediatric sports medicine specialist, his special interests within his field include exercise-induced asthma and pre-participation screening of athletes. An Evansville, Ind., native, Klenck earned his doctor of pharmacy degree from Purdue before completing his doctor of medicine degree at Indiana University School of Medicine. He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians, American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and America College of Sports Medicine. Klenck is married to the former Laura Botto of Dayton, Ohio. They are the parents of three children: Jacob, Ben and Ella.

In addition the T-Club honored former University staff member Jack Williams with a service award. The T-club annually honors members whose service to the University, the Athletics Department and the community has highly distinguished themselves.
JACK WILLIAMS
Jack Williams, a Knoxville native and 1960 Rule High School graduate, was raised in the city's Lonsdale area. He graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1964 with a B.S. in history and while at UT he earned a varsity letter as a member of the Vol baseball team in 1963. After graduation, Williams worked in the government and private sectors, before joining the University of Tennessee development office as director of special gifts in 1970. He retired in 2006 after 36 years of service, during which time he served as vice chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs for U.T. Knoxville and vice president for Development and Alumni Affairs in the UT system and was involved in several mini-campaigns and all university-wide major campaigns.
All during his career photography has been his passion and he has been an active member of UT sports events with camera in hand. His service to the T-Club has been invaluable as a historical preservationist. He is the past president of the East Tennessee Historical Society, an honorary board member of the Friends of the Smokies, past board member of the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, an advisor to the Museum of Appalachia and other non-profits, and is on the board of the East Tennessee Mental Health Association. He and his wife, Carolyn, enjoy two children and five grandchildren. His hobbies include photography, hiking, golf, and music.
