Lady Vols Wrap Up Season Opener

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- With the final day of the Furman Fall Classic in the books, the Lady Vols look to improve after their solid season opener.
Several big matches were played on Sunday morning. Sophomore Laurence Guevremont was playing for the championship of flight four. After falling 2-6 in the first set, she fought hard but fell just short in the second set at 6-7 to Vanderbilt's Astra Sharma.
In flight five, junior Tiffany Tavares was able to easily take third place with quick 6-1 and 6-3 sets against Ellen Silver of Iowa. Sophomores Victoria Olivarez and Ashlee Boles managed to win their final match of the tournament as well. Boles was the only Lady Vol to win all of her singles matches at the fall classic, finishing 3-0.
Senior Joanna Henderson and Sophomore Brittany Lindl came up just short at the end of their matches. Henderson finished her flight in sixth place, and Lindl finished in fourth in her flight. Both players had solid outings throughout the entire tournament.
The Lady Vols' next tournament will be the USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championship held on October 16-20 in Knoxville, Tenn.
