KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- It's day three of practice for the Lady Vols, and the team is already looking to improve from last season's 34th ranked finish in the ITA Team Rankings.
With two days of practice in the books, Head Coach Mike Patrick has seen significant improvements from his players.
"It is like night and day," Patrick said. "I compare this year's first day of practice to last year's. It's not the same group. They are smarter and stronger. They are better, and they have made improvements in a lot of areas."
Sophomore Eve Repic has seen improvements in herself as well as her teammates.
"I feel a lot stronger," Repic said. "I credit a lot of that to good fitness. I have gotten a lot of good advice from Mike and Sonia, and I want to keep implementing that into the upcoming tournaments. Everyone has made a lot of good strides. We have all came back pretty strong."
The practices haven't been easy though. With temperatures in the 80s, it's had its effect on the players.
"We started off great on the first day," Patrick said. "And on the second day, we were a little slow. We were probably just beat up from the first day. I think our energy level is going to be good today. I am looking forward to making some good progress."
No one ever said the road to success was easy. It takes time and hard practice. This team brings back nine players from last year. They know what their goal is, and they are working hard to achieve it.
