September 10, 2014 | Women's Tennis
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- The official 2014-15 schedule for the Tennessee Lady Vols tennis team was released. Their first individual tournament will take place in the annual Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, S.C., on Sept. 26. The Lady Vols opened their fall there last year as well.
The fall season is highlighted by tournaments like the ITA All-American Championships, USTA/ITA Ohio Valley Regional Championships and Indoor Championships and the Dick Vitale Clay Court Classic.
With tournaments consuming the fall, the spring season also begins at a tournament hosted by UNLV on Jan. 16-18, 2015, before heading into the non-conference schedule.
The non-conference schedule features schools like Michigan, Ohio State, Georgia Tech and Indiana. Michigan finished last season ranked No. 17, and Georgia Tech came out as the No. 18 team in the country. Both of these matches are on the road as well.
The tough non-conference schedule transitions straight into an even tougher conference schedule with Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Texas A&M all finishing last season ranked in the top 10 in the country.
Georgia and Texas A&M both travel to Knoxville this season, with A&M being the SEC home opener on Feb. 27. The Lady Vols close out their schedule with a road trip to Florida on April 12.
The SEC Tournament will be April 15-19 in Columbia, S.C., and the NCAA Tournament will be May 9-25 in Waco, Texas.
