August 27, 2014 | Women's Basketball
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -- In the Tennessee women's basketball "First Impression" spotlight this week is Kortney Dunbar, a 6-foot-2 wing player from Edwardsville, Ill.
Like the rest of squad's newcomers, Dunbar joined her Lady Vol teammates at UT for the second session of summer school. She came to Big Orange Country from Edwardsville High School, where she helped the Tigers to a 118-5 record during her career.
Dunbar, whose nicknames include "KD" or "Kort," averaged 16.8 points and 9.7 rebounds as a senior and hit 57 three-pointers en route to A.P. Class 4A Illinois All-State First Team honors. She also posted 59 assists, 44 blocks and 36 steals in 2013-14.
A participant in the SchollyMe All-World Game, Dunbar is a four-star recruit who was ranked No. 78 in the espnW HoopGurlz 100. All-Star Girls Report had her at No. 65, while Blue Star ranked her 74th.
Just like she did in high school, Dunbar will wear number 13 at Tennessee. The others who wore that number at Rocky Top include Susan Foulds, Misty Greene, Gwen Jackson, Jill Rankin, Dominique Redding and Taber Spani.
