NCAA SWEET 16 TIP-OFF
- No. #3/3 Tennessee (29-5), the No. 1 seed in the Louisville Regional, has advanced to the Sweet 16 in the 2014 NCAA Women's Basketball Championship.
- The Lady Vols will face No. 4 seed #11/9 Maryland (26-6) at noon on ESPN in the first regional semifinal game on Sunday, March 30, in the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky.
- Tennessee is appearing in its fifth-straight and 32nd overall NCAA Sweet 16, while Maryland moved on for the 11th time in history and the third year in a row.
- No. 3 seed and host #4/4 Louisville (32-4) will face No. 7 seed LSU (21-12) in the other regional semifinal match-up at 2:30 p.m. ET on Sunday (ESPN2).
- The winners of Sunday's contests will advance to the Elite Eight and play in the Louisville Regional final on Tues., April 1, at 7 p.m. ET, for a berth in the NCAA Final Four in Nashville, April 6 & 8.
- The Lady Vols enter Sunday's tilt vs. the Terrapins on a nine-game winning streak and are victors in 15 of their past 16 games.
- Tennessee advanced to its 32nd NCAA Sweet 16 by defeating No. 16 seed Northwestern (La.) State in the first round, 70-46, and No. 8 seed St. John's in the second round, 67-51, in games played on March 22 and 24 in Knoxville.

- Maryland enters its game with Tennessee on a two-game winning streak and has been victorious in six of its last seven games.
- The Terrapins punched their ticket to Louisville by rolling past Army, 90-52, and holding off Texas, 69-64, in NCAA First and Second Round games played in College Park, Md., on March 23 and 25.
- The Lady Vols have produced a 26-5 record all-time in their previous 31 trips to the regional semifinal round.
- This will be the 14th meeting between Tennessee and Maryland (UT leads 10-3), but these schools have gone seven complete seasons without playing one another in women's basketball.
- The Terps and Lady Vols last played on Nov. 26, 2005, with (then) #2/1 UT claiming an 80-75 victory over #10/10 Maryland at the Paradise Jam tournament in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
- UT is 3-1 in postseason action, going 2-1 vs. Maryland in the AIAW Tournament and 1-0 in the NCAA Tournament.
- Tennessee and Maryland have not met in NCAA tourney play since March 31, 1989, when #1/1 UT toppled #5/3 Maryland, 77-65, in an NCAA Final Four semifinal game in Tacoma, Wash. The Lady Vols went on to defeat Auburn in the title game to claim their second national championship.
