November 24, 2014 | Men's Basketball
Tennessee joins an elite, eight-team field in the Championship Round of the 2016 EA SPORTS Maui Invitational.
The field for the 33rd annual event, announced Monday, includes the Vols, annual host school Chaminade, UConn, Georgetown, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Wisconsin.
The tournament takes place Nov. 21-23, 2016, at the Lahaina Civic Center in Lahaina, Hawaii. Each team will play three games in Maui.
Four other teams will be added to the field to compete in the Opening and Regional Games (on campus sites) at a later date.
The 2016 trip to Hawaii marks Tennessee's third time competing in the Maui Invitational. The Vols turned in a fourth-place finish in 2004 and a seventh-place finish in 2011.
Tennessee owns a 9-15 all-time record against the teams composing the 2016 field.
The ESPN networks will combine once again to offer live television coverage of all 12 Championship Round games. Each game will be produced in high definition on ESPN HD, ESPN2 HD or ESPNU HD, and streamed live on the WatchESPN app and ESPN3.com.
