HISTORY
- Today's game opens the exhibition portion of Tennessee's 106th season of varsity men's basketball.
- First-year head coach Donnie Tyndall is the program's 19th all-time head coach.
- Tyndall is Tennessee's third head coach in the last decade.
- At 44-years-old, Tyndall is the youngest head men's basketball coach in the SEC.

TENNESSEE IN EXHIBITION PLAY
- Tennessee is 71-18 all-time in exhibition games. That includes a 54-10 mainland record, and a 17-8 record overseas.
- The Vols have won nine straight exhibition games dating to a 79-64 loss to Indianapolis Nov. 8, 2010, at Thompson-Boling Arena.
- Tennessee's Donnie Tyndall owns a 13-1 head coaching record in exhibition play.
- Last November, the Vols posted exhibition victories over Florida Southern (105-80 on Nov. 2) and Southern Indiana (78-47 on Nov. 7).

Chris Lofton CONNECTION
- Pikeville head coach Kelly Wells was UT All-American Chris Lofton's high school coach for five seasons at Mason County HS in Maysville, Ky.
- Lofton, the SEC's all-time 3-point king, played for Wells' varsity squad from grades 8-12.
- Wells and Lofton guided Mason County to a state title in 2003, and Lofton was named Kentucky's Mr. Basketball as a senior in 2004.

ABOUT PIKEVILLE
- Founded in 1889, the University of Pikeville is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, located in Pikeville, Ky. The school is located on a 25-acre campus on a hillside overlooking downtown Pikeville.
- On July 1, 2011, the school changed its name from Pikeville College to the University of Pikeville.
- Pikeville sponsors an NAIA affiliated athletics program, and its teams compete in the Mid-South Conference.
- UPIKE is ranked No. 2 nationally in the preseason NAIA coaches' poll after going 31-3 last year.
- The Bears won the NAIA Division I men's basketball national championship in 2011 and captured both the Mid-South Conference regular-season and tournament championships last year.
- Six players on Pikeville's 2014-15 roster previously played at an NCAA Division I school.
- Head coach Kelly Wells is in his ninth season at Pikeville.
- Wells, who has led the Bears to the program's only national championship as well as its only two 30-win seasons, also has been the recipient of two donated kidneys.
