THE SERIES
- Friday marks the 57th meeting all-time between Tennessee and LSU in a series that dates back to 1977. The Tigers hold a 35-21 edge in the series and have won back-to-back matches, including a meeting in Knoxville earlier this season. UT is 6-17 all-time in matches played in Baton Rouge.
- Oct. 12, 2014: The Tigers invaded Thompson-Boling Arena and came away with a 3-0 victory in the 2014 season's third week of SEC play. Jamie Lea led the Lady Vols with eight kills and Lexi Dempsey had 11 assists, but UT swung just .158 while LSU enjoyed an attack percentage of .300.
- Nov. 17, 2013: LSU stole the final two sets of the match as it bounced back from an early deficit to top Tennessee, 3-2. Jamie Lea tallied a team-high 16 kills while Lexi Dempsey picked up her 16th double-double of the season with 43 assists and 15 digs.
- Oct. 10, 2012: UT's last win in Baton Rouge, the Lady Vols earned just their sixth victory in Baton Rouge in 23 tries when it topped LSU, 3-2, in a nationally televised match on ESPNU. Ellen Mullins had 32 digs in the match.
TENNESSEE (8-19, 1-12 SEC)
- Tennessee will look to bounce back from a 3-1 loss at the hands of Auburn last Sunday by handing LSU its first loss in 10 matches on Friday night in Baton Rouge.
- At Auburn, UT finished with double digit team blocks for the eighth time this season, but was unable to find the offensive potency to back up the strong defensive effort. The Lady Vols finished the match with a .098 attack percentage -- their third lowest this season.
- For the fourth consecutive match, freshman Kendra Turner led Tennessee in kills. She mashed 11 at Auburn to give her double digit kills in three of her last four matches.
- Turner now leads the team in both total kills (188) and kills per set (2.85) despite having not played in six matches this season.
- At Auburn, Lexi Dempsey finished the match with 36 assists and 13 digs to secure her team-leading fifth double-double of the season. It was Dempsey's first double-double in SEC play this season.
- Middle blockers Raina Hembry and Iesha Bryant combined for 11 blocks at Auburn moving the pair inside the SEC's top 15 in the category. Hembry's seven blocks on Sunday give her 67 on the year at a rate of 0.96 per set, good enough for 13th in the conference. Meanwhile, Bryant sits in sixth with 76 total blocks at a 1.10 bps clip. She had four at AU Sunday.
- Friday's match at LSU marks the farthest west the Lady Vols have traveled this season. It is also a homecoming of sorts for Turner, whose hometown of LaPlace, Louisiana, rests just over 50 miles to the southeast of Baton Rouge.
LSU (15-7, 10-3 SEC)
- One of the hottest teams in the SEC, LSU has won 10 consecutive matches -- currently the second longest streak in the conference. The Tigers last loss came against then ninth ranked Florida on Oct. 3.
