Vice chancellor/director of athletics Dave Hart, men's basketball coach Donnie Tyndall and women's basketball coach Holly Warlick served as Pilot Celebrity Pumpers earlier this week to help the Knox-area United Way.
Hart, Tyndall and Warlick volunteered their time to work one-hour shifts at the Cumberland Avenue Pilot store, pumping gas for customers, visiting with Tennessee fans and signing autographs.
Started in 1992, the program is the United Way of Knoxville's single largest special event fundraiser. Five cents of every gallon of gas sold and 10 cents of every dollar spent inside the store Oct. 6-8 go to benefit those in need. Last year, Pilot Pumpers raised a record $86,200 for the United Way.
