THE SERIES
- Sunday is the 47th meeting between Tennessee and Alabama in a series that dates back to 1973. UT leads 33-13, but the Crimson Tide claimed last year's meeting to stop what was a 10-match winning streak in the series for the Lady Vols.
- Nov. 24, 2013: The lone meeting of the 2013 season, UA swept Tennessee in Tuscaloosa, 3-0. Jamie Lea had nine kills in the match.
- Oct. 28, 2012: Tennessee swept its way past Alabama, 3-0, at Thompson-Boling Arena. The Lady Vols posted a hitting percentage of .380 compared to .155 for the visitors as UT claimed a season sweep of the Crimson Tide.
- Sept. 16, 2012: No. 17 Tennessee bounced back from a first set loss to claim the next three games on its way to a 3-1 SEC victory in Tuscaloosa. Now-senior Shealyn Kolosky tallied eight blocks in the match.
TENNESSEE (7-10, 0-3 SEC)
- Tennessee is seeking its first SEC win of the year after dropping its first three league contests. The Lady Vols dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 21 Texas A&M on Friday night in the home SEC opener.
- Freshman Kelsey Bawcombe posted 10 kills against the Aggies to go along with a team-high six digs.
- Junior setter Lexi Dempsey is 30 assists shy of the 1500 assist mark for her career on Rocky Top.
- Tennessee is 2-3 in Knoxville this season and is in the midst of a four-match homestand. Spanning consecutive weekends, the homestand is the longest of the year for the Lady Vols.
- Freshman middle blocker Iesha Bryant is one of five Lady Vols to have appeared in all 17 matches this season. She is currently averaging a team-high 1.09 blocks per game -- good for ninth in the SEC.
- As a team, Tennessee ranks fifth in the SEC in digs per set at 14.34. Libero Bridgette Villano paces the Lady Vols with 3.38 digs per frame.
ALABAMA (14-3, 2-1 SEC)
- The Crimson Tide had a nine match winning streak snapped on Friday night at No. 13 Kentucky. It had been nearly a month since Alabama's last loss, a 3-1 defeat at Virginia on Sept. 6.
- Last weekend, Alabama got SEC started with back-to-back 3-1 wins over Georgia and LSU. The Crimson Tide needed 35 points to finally settle a marathon of a fourth set at home against the Tigers.
- Sophomore right side Krystal Rivers is the two-time reigning SEC Player of the Week. Last week, she had 26 kills at Georgia and 22 more against LSU.
- Rivers leads the SEC in kills (268) and ranks second in kills per set (4.38).
- For the first time in program history, Alabama garnered votes in the AVCA top 25 poll. The Crimson Tide received 11 votes last week, placing them five spots outside the top 25.
