THE SERIES
- Wednesday is the 75th meeting all-time between the Lady Vols and the Wildcats in a series that dates back to 1973. Kentucky holds a 45-29 lead in the series and has claimed the last five matchups. UT holds an overall record of 12-21 in matches played in Lexington while head coach Rob Patrick is 20-15 over his career against the Wildcats.
- Oct. 10, 2014: In the first meeting between the two programs this season, No. 13 Kentucky swept Tennessee, 3-0, at Thompson-Boling Arena. Jamie Lea had eight kills for the Lady Vols and setter Lexi Dempsey surpassed 1,500 assists for her career midway through the first set.
- Oct. 6, 2013: The 19th ranked Wildcats swept their way past Tennessee at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington. Lexi Dempsey finished the match with 25 assists and 10 digs -- her 11th double-double of the season to that point.
- Nov. 24, 2010: Tennessee's last win in Lexington came in a sweep of Kentucky to close out the 2010 regular season. Ranked 21st, the Lady Vols got a double-double from Nikki Fowler (10 kills and 11 digs) as well as 11 kills from DeeDee Harrison at a .529 clip. UT limited the Wildcats to an attack percentage of just .095 in the win.
TENNESSEE (8-15, 1-8 SEC)
- UT enters the week off a 3-0 win over Ole Miss on Sunday, snapping an eight-match losing streak dating back to the start of SEC play.
- Tennessee posted a season-best hitting percentage of .291 in its win over the Rebels. It was just the fourth time this season that UT has recorded a team attack percentage better than .250.
- Sunday's victory was the first home win for the Lady Vols since the 2012 season.
- Kanisha Jimenez recorded the fourth double-double of her career on Sunday with 10 kills and 10 digs. She is now tied for the team lead in double-doubles with Lexi Dempsey.
- Freshman Kelsey Bawcombe posted nine kills against Ole Miss, bringing her season kill total to 100. She is the fourth Lady Vol to reach the century mark.
- Shealyn Kolosky also came away with nine kills in the win over the Rebels, doing so with a career-best .667 attack percentage.
#18 KENTUCKY (18-4, 8-2 SEC)
- The Wildcats, ranked 18th in the AVCA Coaches Poll, enter the week in second place in the SEC standings with a record of 18-4 and 8-2 in league play.
- UK split its two matches last week, getting a 3-0 sweep at Arkansas before falling 3-1 at No. 24 Texas A&M.
- Sophomore Anni Thomasson had a double-double in each match, posting 11 kills and 12 digs at Arkansas and 12 kills and 10 digs at A&M. She now has double-doubles in each of her last three matches.
- As a team, UK ranks as one of the top offensive clubs in the SEC, leading the conference in kills per set at 14.23. Heading that charge is junior outside hitter Shelby Workman, averaging 3.30 kills per set with an attack percentage of .213.
- Kentucky also leads the SEC in assists per set, averaging 13.04 per frame. Junior Morgan Bergren has steadied that effort with an 11.11 assist per set clip that ranks third in the SEC.
- The Wildcats are 10-2 at Memorial Coliseum this season with their only blemishes coming against No. 6 USC and LSU. Of Kentucky's 10 home victories this season, five have been sweeps.
