Fans Invited to Big Orange Madness Oct. 24
October 17, 2014 | Men's Basketball
The Tennessee basketball programs are hosting a free, one-hour "Big Orange Madness" event at Thompson-Boling Arena Friday, Oct. 24. It will be a fun-filled evening where fans can meet the Vols and Lady Vols and build excitement leading into the 2014-15 campaign.
Doors open at 6 p.m. ET. From 6-7 p.m., the Pride of the Southland Pep Band and DJ "Sterl the Pearl" will provide music while the UT athletic marketing staff conducts contests and interactive fan activities. The 60-minute Big Orange Madness "program" will begin at 7 p.m. ET.
Activities throughout the night include player introductions, short intrasquad scrimmages by both teams, a brief 3-point shooting contest and slam dunk exhibition and appearances by the UT band, dance team and cheerleaders, as well as Smokey.
Several contests and giveaways will take place throughout the night. Concessions also will be available.
Autograph lines for both the Vols and Lady Vols players will be set up in the south concourse between sections 118-124 at the conclusion of the program. Autographs are limited to one item per fan, and free autograph cards will be available.
With no major conflicting events on campus Friday evening, plenty of free parking will be available in lots G-3, G-4, G-5 and G-10 close to the arena. Fans are asked to enter the arena at Gates C and D.
Tennessee students are asked to enter at Gate A. All students who attend will receive one Student Rewards point, and 1,500 free t-shirts--to be worn the following day at the Alabama football game--will be handed out to students throughout the event.
