George HuntKicker (1968-71)
The only Vol to ever earn first team All-Southeastern Conference honors while wearing number nine was George Hunt.
The Clearwater, Fla., native earned the league honors in 1971 after going 12-of-15 on field goals in his senior campaign, including two successful attempts from 50+ yards.
Hunt's field goal percentage that year (.800) still ranks ninth all-time in the UT record books, while his career percentage (.653, 32-of-49) places him 10th.
In the final game of his collegiate career, Hunt's fourth-quarter extra point after a touchdown pass from Jim Maxwell to Gary Theiler, proved to be the margin of victory in Tennessee's 14-13 victory over Arkansas in the 1971 Liberty Bowl.
Hunt would go on to be drafted in the fifth round of the 1972 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns. He also played for the Baltimore Colts in 1973 and New York Giants in 1975.
