Player Spotlight
Ted DafferGuard (1949-51)
Guard Ted Daffer locked down the middle of the defensive line during a dominant time for Tennessee football. He was the only two-time All-America from the 1950 or 1951 squads.
He helped Tennessee to an 11-1 record and a national championship from one poll in 1950, losing only the second game of the season to Mississippi State.
Daffer returned the following season to help the squad become consensus national champions in 1951, going undefeated in the regular season before losing in the Sugar Bowl.
Why I Wore the Number
Bill MayoGuard (1981-84)
"I wore 67 because Bob Kuechenberg was my favorite player for the 1972 undefeated Miami Dolphins."
Why I Wore the Number
Bob ScottGuard (1953-55)
"The number 67 was given to me by General Neyland in the fall of 1952. It was worn the year before by All-American guard Ted Daffer, who played on the 1951 National Championship team. It was a great honor to play for General Neyland and to wear Ted's number."
Why I Wore the Number
Tommy BaucomOffensive Line (1967-69)
"My number 67 was special to me because we were fortunate enough to win the south eastern conference in 1967 and that was my number."
